Say Tanjung Bungah to anyone in Penang and they know exactly what it stands for — the island's most established seafront address, all sea breeze, beaches and big houses, and long the shorthand for buying at the top end of the market. Blossom Suites, the project we are touring here, sits along the Jalan Tanjung Bungah main road, directly in front of The Waterfront Condominium, with a front-row outlook onto the Strait of Malacca.

As the residential flagship of Kobay Development Sdn Bhd, part of the Kobay group, Blossom Suites is a 41-storey serviced apartment development (only Tower B is open for booking at present) staking out its biggest claim on this expensive stretch of coast: the developer states in its FAQ that no high-rise will be built directly in front of the project, so the sea view stays open for the long term. That is not a promise you hear often in northern Penang island. Let's unpack what this Tanjung Bungah seaview vantage point actually offers.

The project sits along Jalan Tanjung Bungah next to The Waterfront Condominium, facing the Strait of Malacca. Drive about 5 minutes north and you reach the resort belt of Batu Ferringhi; head roughly 7 km south and you connect to the Gurney Drive seafront promenade and central George Town.

➜ A cluster of international schools, and a first choice for expat and professional families

Several well-known schools sit within a 2 km radius: Lighthouse Academy (500 m), Dalat International School (1.6 km), Prince of Wales Island International School (1.8 km) and Tenby Schools Penang (2.0 km), with TAR UMT within 2.8 km. It is a big part of why expat families concentrate their house-hunting in Tanjung Bungah.

➜ Water sports and beach life right on the doorstep

The Penang Water Sport Recreation Centre is only 350 m away; the Penang Swimming Club is 2.0 km, Miami Beach (Pantai Miami) 2.1 km and Batu Ferringhi Beach 5.4 km. Live here and the sea is part of the routine, not something you go on holiday for.

Kobay Development Sdn Bhd (Reg. No. 197701001843 / 32819-H) is the property arm of the Kobay group, headquartered at Wisma Kobay in George Town and active in Penang for more than 50 years. Blossom Suites is the group's residential flagship in Tanjung Bungah, on a site of about 2.625 acres.

➜ Scale and tenure

Two towers (Tower A + Tower B), 41 storeys each, residential floors from Level 11 to Level 41, 7 units on a typical floor, 412 units across both towers. Only Tower B (206 units) is open for booking at present; Tower A has not been released. Tenure: freehold. Title: commercial (serviced apartment), protected under the HDA, which means short-term letting such as Airbnb is allowed; the developer also provides a professional management and operations team. There are 5 retail lots at street level, car parking on Levels 2–9 (8 floors, 706 bays in total), and the facilities deck on Level 10.

Blossom Suites puts all of its facilities on Level 10, laid out as a resort-style sky garden. The building tops out at 160 m, a vantage point that takes in the strait, the hills beyond and the city lights at night.

Water zone Infinity pool (adult pool 16.05 m × 12.9 m), outdoor jacuzzi, spa pool beds and a children's pool (6.95 m × 5 m). The whole wet-facility cluster is oriented towards the strait, and it is the most photogenic spot in the project.

Sports and leisure Gym, games room, business lounge, multipurpose hall and sky bar.

Outdoor and green spaces Barbecue area, picnic area, lawn, meditation deck and viewing deck, plus a children's playground and a kids' activity terrace.

A 3-tier security system runs through the whole building; every floor has a refuse separation room, and the building is fitted with an alarm system and sprinklers.
