City of Dreams @ Tanjung Tokong

When the talk turns to the most talked-about luxury residential projects on Penang island in recent years, City of Dreams is a name that keeps coming up. Two 40-storey freehold towers, standing on the reclaimed land of Bandar Seri Tanjung Pinang, in the prime corridor between Gurney Drive and Tanjung Tokong. Announced in 2013, more than a decade in the building, and now presented as a completed development, City of Dreams closes that chapter with a string of international awards and a GBI Gold green building rating in 2023. Today you can turn up in person, walk into a real unit, and take in the sea-and-sky view from 40 storeys up along with the full set of 70-plus facilities. What you see is what you get.

◎Location Breakdown

➜ Bandar Seri Tanjung Pinang: Penang Island's Most Closely Watched Reclaimed Land

City of Dreams stands at No. 1 Jalan Peter Paul Dason, Bandar Seri Tanjung Pinang, 10470 Tanjung Tokong. The site is reclaimed land that the Penang state government acquired through a land swap for road and infrastructure works. Geographically it sits between Gurney Drive and the north-east district of Tanjung Tokong, one of the island's most closely watched high-end residential corridors in recent years. Within the same reclamation, E&O's Seri Tanjung Pinang series has long been the benchmark address for Penang's high-net-worth buyers, and City of Dreams sits right in the heart of that area.

➜ Amenities and Accessibility

Shopping and daily amenities here are thoroughly established. Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon, Penang's most mature mall pairing, are about a 5-minute drive away. TESCO Tanjung Tokong is close by, along with a long run of restaurants and cafes down the coast, and Straits Quay Marina sits in the same stretch. For healthcare, Gleneagles Penang and Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre are both within a reasonable drive. On schools, Tanjung Tokong has Uplands International School plus a choice of Chinese primary schools and national secondary schools.

As for getting around, roads within Tanjung Tokong and the STP area move reasonably well, but the main routes in and out of Gurney Drive do come under pressure at morning and evening peak. That is a familiar trait of any road linking the north coast to George Town. Worth doing when you view: drive the route yourself at different times of day, especially during the morning commute.
