RM200 Government Rebate on Fridges and Air-Cond: How to Claim NUR@PETRA 2026

If the fridge or air-cond at home has been running seven or eight years and your electricity bill never seems to drop, take a look at this before you replace it: the government's NUR@PETRA programme gives you RM200 off a fridge or air-cond that meets the required energy rating.
This year's rules are not the same as last year's. Two things to get straight first:
First, only one unit this year. Last year (2025) you could claim for a fridge and an air-cond separately, up to RM400. This year it changes to one electricity account, one appliance only — fridge or air-cond, RM200 off.
Second, if you claimed last year, you cannot claim again this year. A lot of people don't know this one. If you replaced your fridge last year and now want to change the air-cond, you don't qualify.
So if your household really needs to replace something this year, move early. The national quota is 160,000 units, first come first served.
What this programme actually is
The full name is Program Nikmat Untuk Rakyat (NUR@PETRA) Tahun 2026, and the category open now is NUR:DOMESTIK — household users.
It is run by SEDA (Sustainable Energy Development Authority), under PETRA (Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation). Not KETSA — plenty of older articles still say KETSA, but that was the name before the restructuring. Don't go looking for the wrong ministry.

RM32 million ÷ RM200 = 160,000 units. The numbers do add up.
Heads up: the authorities do not publish a live quota balance, so there is no way to check on the site how many units are left. That means I can't give you a firm answer on whether you are still in time, only that the earlier the better. (To be verified)
Do you qualify?
Four conditions, all of them required.
1. Malaysian citizen, using your own blue MyKad
Not a family member's, yours. You have to show it at the shop.
2. The electricity account must be a “Domestik” household account
Utilities covered: TNB (Peninsular), SESB (Sabah), SEB (Sarawak) and NUR Power.
Commercial accounts (Komersil) don't count. If you live above a shop lot but the account is registered as commercial, this is where you'll get stuck.
3. You didn't claim last year
If you received NUR@PETRA in 2025, you are not eligible this year. The system checks.
4. The model must be on the official list, and rated 4 or 5 stars
This is the one that trips up the most people. Not every energy-efficient appliance counts — it has to be on SEDA's list, and the energy efficiency label has to be 4 or 5 stars.
3 stars won't do. Anything off the list won't do, no matter how little power it actually uses.
How to check the model (do this first)
Check before you go to the shop, otherwise you're making the trip for nothing.

Checking the official site on 30 July 2026, the list showed:

One thing worth saying: news reports put it at 34 and 39 brands, which doesn't match the list on the official site. The likely reason is that the list keeps growing, and the media were quoting early-July figures. So don't go by the numbers in the news. Search the exact model you want on the official site, because the list gets updated.
When you check, copy down the full model number and match on that, not just the brand and capacity. Within the same series, often only some of the models carry a 4- or 5-star rating.

Any platform not on this list can't apply the rebate, even if what it's selling is a model from the official list.
At the shop: this is where things go wrong
The RM200 is deducted from the price on the spot. You don't pay full price and claim it back later. Remember that, because a lot of people assume it's a reimbursement.

How it works
The retailer registers you in the SEDA system, verifies your account and eligibility, and once it goes through, RM200 comes off there and then.
The system only gives the retailer a 15-minute window. So don't wander off during this part and don't change your mind about the model halfway. If it times out, they have to start over.
The receipt matters most
Make sure you get a Resit (receipt) or Invois (invoice).
A SALES ORDER doesn't count. The official terms state plainly that it isn't accepted. Some shops habitually issue a sales order first and only invoice when the stock arrives. If that's the case, sort it out before you pay.
Six things the authorities haven't spelled out
The six items below aren't stated on the official site, in the official terms, or in any existing report. Treat them as unverified, and call SEDA directly:

Renters, take note: the electricity bill is usually in the landlord's name, or the sub-let unit has no separate account at all. Whether you can apply in that situation, and what proof you would need, genuinely isn't stated anywhere official. Call and ask before you buy, rather than finding out afterwards that you can't use it.
A sensible order to do this in
If you really are replacing one appliance this year, work through it like this:
Decide fridge or air-cond first. You only get one, so pick whichever is the bigger power drain and more overdue. An old fridge is usually the better candidate, because it runs 24 hours a day.
Search the model list on the official site and build a shortlist before you walk into any shop.
Check the participating retailer list while you're at it, to see whether the shop you normally go to is on it.
Work out the stacking. Whether the retailer's own promotion can be combined with this RM200 isn't stated officially, but you can at least ask at the counter. Costs nothing to ask.
Get an invoice when you pay, not a sales order.
RM200 isn't a huge amount, but moving to a 4- or 5-star unit saves on electricity for years. For a fridge that will run for a decade, the maths works out.
Last thing
The two rules really worth noting are one unit per household, and no repeat claim if you got it last year. A lot of people are planning around last year's rules and only find out at the shop that things have changed.
